Our Events
CNETS organises free seminars, group meetups and other events to help raise awareness
about carcinoid and nueurondocrine disease. We are currently organising events in conjunction
with the pending launch of targeted radiation therapy (Lu-177 PRRT) in Singapore.
Update on Targeted Radiation Therapy for NET Cancer

Peptide Recepter Radiotherapy (PRRT) is one of the most effective treatments for patients with
Neuroendocrine Cancer. In particular, therapy with Lu-177 Octreotate is safe, has relatively
few toxic side effects and has been shown to prolong survival by 3 - 6 years . PRRT is emerging
from trials to become a mainstream treatment option for NET cancer patients, alongside surgery
and Octreotide therapy.
In the coming months, PRRT will be introduced at Singapore General Hospital Nuclear Medicine
Department. This event will help you understand how the treatment works, whether it is suitable
in your own case, and at what stage it can be most effective.

Don't Be Shy About Intestinal Problems

Do you suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or some other intestinal disorder? What are the
implications of such a diagnosis now and over time? Actually, an IBS diagnosis requires regular
review and is based on elimination of other possible causes. One such cause could be neurendocrine
tumors or NET cancer.
This event will help you understand whether your condition is more than simple IBS, and what screening
tests might be available to eliminate cancer as a possible cause. A dietition will also explain how
you can modify your diet to manage your symptoms, for example, by taking probiotic drinks, salads and
green vegetables.
 - Health Promotion Board (HPB) Auditorium, (next to Outram MRT station)
- Saturday 20 November 2010, 1.00pm - 4.00pm
- Free - Attendance is free and open to the public, but online pre-registration is required.
Recommended for IBS patients and caregivers.
- This event was held in conjunction with Worldwide NET Cancer Awareness Day 2010.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Neuroendocrine Tumors?

The two conditions present with similar symptoms but result in different patient outcomes.
During this talk, attendees will learn about neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), the relationship of
NETs with IBS, how to identify patients at risk, and the procedure for referring patients for
screening. They will be eligible for 2 CME credit points. We feel this education programme
will be of great benefit to physicians and ultimately will help to improve patient outcomes.
 - Sheraton Towers Hotel, Ballroom 2
- Saturday 27 November 2010, 1.00pm - 5.00pm (luncheon will be served)
- Free - Attendance is by invitation only. This is a CME credit event and the intended audience
is Gastro-intestinal specialist physicians and GPs.
- This event was held in conjunction with Worldwide NET Cancer Awareness Day 2010
